Annapurna family trek

Upon arrival you will be met and assisted by a Ker & Downey representative and transferred to the Gokarna Forest Resort. Gokarna Forest Resort which is located inside the serene temperate Gokarna Forest used to be the former Royal hunting grounds of the Kings of Nepal. A winding road climbs through the forest, up to the main complex, consisting of a number of Rana period lodges, and sanctuaries harmoniously blending with nature. A quiet peaceful haven set between ancient towering trees with glimpses of the second fairway in the valley below make the perfect getaway for golf, enchanting forest walks, relaxation and rejuvenation at the Spa, as well as time close to nature. After breakfast transfer to the domestic airport with your guide [25 minutes] for your 25 minute flight to Pokhara. This is a magnificent flight that includes all the western mountain ranges. Upon arrival at the airport, meet with your trek guide and porters and transfer by road to the trek start point. This takes 1 ½ hours. Trek for 1 hour to a local restaurant for lunch. This is followed by a walk around the local village of Birethanti before continuing to the Sanctuary lodge located at an altitude of 3362 ft. Total trek time 2 ½ hours. Enjoy a sunset view of the magnificent and unclimbed Machhapuchhare or Fishtail mountain. Dinner at the lodge after happy hour around the fire. Overnight at Sanctuary lodge. BLD.

After breakfast, you will trek to the Gurung lodge situated at an altitude of 4756 feet. From this lodge, there are clear views of Annapurna South and the surrounding peaks. This is an uphill trek that will take 2 ½ hours and passes through the famous bee village where honey is produced in the traditional way. After lunch, we will visit a small l museum set up by the locals that houses objects that have been used by the villagers for centuries. This will be followed by a visit to the local school where you will experience classroom work with the local children as well as meeting the teachers to better understand the local education system. After an early breakfast, we trek for one hour to the road head and transfer by vehicle to Pokhara. Along the way we will stop to visit the Tibetan refugee camp one of the first that was established in Nepal. We will visit the monastery where you will meet one of the high Lama priests who will show you around and explain the symbols and significances of the Tibetan religion. We return to the hotel in time for lunch. The afternoon is free to explore the lakeside with all its Tibetan curio shops. Overnight at Temple Tree Resort & Spa.

After breakfast, transfer by road for 1 hour through local countryside to the rafting start point. After a briefing, you will float for 3 hours with your raft crew to the Seti river camp which is located on a sandy bank with views over the river. The float passes through forested valleys which are unspoilt. For lunch we will stop at a sandy beach. The late afternoon is free to explore the riverbank or relax in a hammock outside your tent. Accommodation is in large safari style tents with attached bathrooms. Overnight at Seti river camp. BLD.

The morning is spent rafting. There are 5 class 2 rapids. The remainder of the trip is a float. On completion of the rafting, we transfer by vehicle to the border area of Chitwan National Park, enjoying a packed lunch en route (a journey of some 2 hours.) On arrival at the resort, we will receive a briefing prior to an afternoon safari or nature walk. Overnight at Kasara Resort (B, L, D)

After an early morning safari – on foot, elephant or by jeep, You will be transferred to the local airport for your short 25 minute flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to Boudinath, the largest Stupa in Asia which is home to some 10000 Tibetans. The Tibetans run and operate many shops and tea houses around the temple complex. In the evening you will be joined by Sherpa summiteer who will have climbed Everest a number of times as well as other 8000m peaks. He will speak to you about his experiences and join you for dinner at either a local restaurant or the hotel.
