Overview
Itinerary
You arrive at Tribhuven International Airport where a representative of Swiss Nepal Family Trekking & Expedition will greet you and take you to your Three Star Hotel by private car. You will enjoy a welcome drink as well as an evening orientation about your trip as well as equipment check. Spend the night in the hotel.
There is plenty to see and do in the Kathmandu Valley, and with our private vehicle and your own personal guide, you will spend the day seeing the highlights of the Valley. There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, plus a chance to see local culture, taste local foods and to immerse yourself in the local culture.
After breakfast, we will take a domestic flight to Lukla where we begin our trek in the Everest region. It is just a 45 minute flight, and what a flight it is! We literally follow the backbone of the Himalayas eastward. On the flight you will see not only Mt. Everest, but also the peaks of Kanchenjunga III, Mt. Lhotse IV, and Makalu V. Each of these peaks is over 8,000 meters, literally forming the roof of the world. We land in Lukla village where we begin our trek. There are no roads to Lukla, so this village is only accessible either by air or a seven day trek from Jiri village. We will be heading toward Phakding village. We actually go downhill from Lukla as we travel through the rugged foothills of the Everest region. Trekking time is around three hours and we will stay in a local lodge at Phakding.
Our walk begins early in the morning. It is a fairly easy trek, even starting out rather level as we follow the Dudh Koshi River. The land will start to move uphill gradually as we make our way toward the main district city of Namche Bazaar. We will cross the Hillary suspension bridge, and finally we come to the steepest part of today’s trek that leads us to Namche Bazaar. There are plenty of views of the high mountains along the way, as well as becoming immersed in the local Buddhist culture of the Sherpa people. We will check into a local guesthouse for the night.
It is important to spend a day acclimatizing to the higher elevation as altitude sickness can be quite serious. The day will not be spent just lying around (unless you want to), but we will hike to Everest Viewpoint for a magnificent view of Mt. Everest. From here, you will see the spectacular peaks of Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse and many more. It is only a two hour hike to Everest Viewpoint and we will spend a few hours there enjoying the view as well as having lunch. We will return to Namche Bazaar where you can spend the afternoon exploring this delightful village. There is a lot to see here. We will spend the night in our local guest house.
After Namche first the trail descenting and then over a high suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Koshi River. Then our trail runs at the banks of River and we arrive in Jorsalle which takes about 3 and half hours. We cross again another suspention bridge and short climb up brings us to Monjo. Overnight in Lodge.
We continue our trek to Lukla via Phakding with crossing several bridges which takes about 4 and half hours. Here we have our lunch. After lunch free day for resting. Overnight in Lodge.
Early flight from Lukla to Kathmandu which takes about 45 minutes and transfer to hotel and enjoy the luxury of hot shower. Afternoon for Shopping in Thamel, Enjoying. Stay overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Your safety is of paramount importance while traveling with Vertical adventures (P) Ltd. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary. However, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountain regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not be forced to make last minute changes due to weather conditions, health conditions or any member of the group, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The team leader will do everything possible to ensure that the trip runs according to plan. Be prepared for any last minute changes. The Himalayas are big and wild, and worthy of your respect.
TREKKING GROUP
For the Short Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking, there will be a trek leader and Sherpa Porters for carrying luggage (2 trekkers = 1 porter). This arrangement ensures that if anyone in the group is sick the trip can still go on as planned. However, Vertical adventures (P) Ltd can run this trek for groups of any size. Usually, we have found that the maximum number of trekkers in any group is 12 people.
ACCOMMODATIONS
All accommodations for the Short Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking are on twin-sharing basis. The lodges and tea houses have been selected by Vertical adventures (P) Ltd after personal inspection. We look at the conditions of the inns, local hygiene, quality of food, type of service and more.
We offer two types of accommodations on this trek. In Kathmandu you will stay four nights at a Three Star Hotel and two night in Pokhara. As there are no Three Star Hotels available on the trek, you will spend three nights in standard tea houses. These places have pleasant, unheated rooms and wooden beds with foam mattresses.
All rooms are double occupancy, but you can request a single occupancy room for an additional fee, which will be available only during the trekking. However, sometimes single rooms are not available in some places, depending upon local conditions. We do work to provide the best possible options when trekking in the High Himalayas.
MEALS
Food will vary between typical Nepali in the mountains. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, there are far more choices, which include Indian, Continental, Italian, Tibetan and more. The city areas offer everything from good steaks and burgers to apple pie and pizza.
Nepali food is nutritious, and ranges from our traditional dhal/bhat and momo to fantastic breads, fruits and more. The cooking is wholesome and the food is tasty.
The trek does include a farewell dinner where you will experience a cultural show with music, dance and the finest of local foods. There is also a daily breakfast in hotels and on the trail.
