Family Day Hiking in Pokhara Valley

Overview

One of the most popular places in Nepal is the Pokhara Valley region. Nestled in the base of the Annapurna Mountain Range, these brilliantly white snowcapped peaks rise majestically against the cobalt blue skies.

The region is home of one of the largest lakes in Nepal which borders the city of Pokhara. It’s blue waters reflect the snowcapped peaks in its surface as people enjoy swimming, boating, fishing and other water activities.

Pokhara is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Nepal. There are short and long treks, majestic waterfalls, the world’s deepest canyon, interesting culture, great sunrises, paragliding and so much more.

Vertical Expedition has put together this seven day Pokhara experience that is ideal for you and your family. We will be staying at the beautiful Himalayan Deurali Resort in Nagdanda, located on the ridge overlooking both the mountain as well as Pokhara and Phewa Lake.  The resort is situated very close to Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). The resort is made of hand-cut stone with separate two story cottages. Each room has its own private balcony. From here, you can enjoy incredible sunrises and sunsets as well as a variety of day treks. The resort features many family friendly activities and the staff is very helpful and love children.

If you are looking for a fun-filled, family oriented trip, then the Family Day Hiking Trip around Pokhara is perfect for you and your family. Be sure to inquire today!

Itinerary

Arrive today at Tribhuvan International Airport where you will be met by your representative of Vertical Expedition and transferred to your Three Star Hotel where you can relax from your long flight.

We fly in the morning to the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara which is about a 25 minute flight. But what a flight! We literally fly along the backbone of the mighty Himalayas. We land in Pokhara where we are met by another representative of Vertical Expedition and taken by private car to Himalayan Deurali Resort. You and your family will settle into your room to relax and enjoy the great views of the mountains from your private balconies. In the evening, enjoy a sunset over the mountains followed by a spectacular sunrise in the morning. We will be spending our nights at this resort.

Our trek today is to Australian Camp where there are great views of the snowcapped mountains along with wonderful views of the pretty little Gurung village of Dhampus. Return back to Deural Resort for the evening. Hiking time is 5 – 6 hours.

One of the most spectacular places to see sunrises, sunsets as well as panoramic views of the High Himalayas is from Paudoor Kot. From this vantage point, you can see all the way from Dhaulagiri (7th highest peak) to Manaslu (8th highest peak) with all of the snowcapped peaks in between. Pass through various villages that belong to Gurung, Newar, Biswa Karma and Brahmins. Hiking time is around 4 hours.

This village is not far from Pokhara and offers not only great views of the mountains, but also Phewa Lake. This walk goes through jungle and then on to places of great overlooks in all directions. Return to the resort in the evening. Hiking time is 4 hours.

We will leave today and return by air to Kathmandu. But before leaving Pokhara, we will take some time to go down to Phewa Lake, enjoy Lakeside location and have a chance to do some shopping before returning to Kathmandu in the afternoon. We will check into our Three Star Hotel and in the evening have a farewell dinner with cultural show.

All good things must come to an end, and today, it is time to travel to your next destination. Your representative at Vertical Expedition can help you to plan your future trip as well as to other destinations around South Asia. Be sure to talk to your representative before leaving Kathmandu about a return trip to this great country. As they say, a lifetime is never enough to explore all that Nepal and the Himalayas have to offer.
